The East Mayo Athletics Club have a winter challenge ongoing at the moment. It involves teams of runners getting out for a run three times a week with a minimum of 5km to be covered in each of the three runs.
There is no limit on the number of kilometres completed but the organisers are counting frequency more than distance. The challenge runs for eight weeks and you must get out three times a week and are not allowed to carry runs over. There has been a great response to the challenge so far with 4 teams of 12 signed up and taking part and they have been pounding the roads and pavements in the last couple of weeks clocking up the miles and posting evidence of their times on the various social medial platforms.
The team with the most consistent runners wins over the course of the eight week challenge and the competition is pretty intense by all accounts as the four teams vie for the top prize so to speak. More news in the coming weeks on who is leading the way in the challenge that has been terrifically well supported.
