The 2020 Honour of the Village darts competition hosted by Walsh’s Bar, Main Street, Charlestown, got off to cracking start with the Deccie Haran led Curry pitting their talents against past champions Glann, Tavrane, in what was a cracking match-up on paper. Glann, Tavrane, proved too strong for the Curry combination however and powered their way to victory and laid down a real marker in the process that they remain one of the dark horses in what’s one of the most competitive line-ups for many a long year.
Curry never found their true form on the night which was a source of much frustration for supremo Deccie Haran who must be feeling the heat after another early exit. The fixtures for the coming week see Sonnagh skippered by Siobhan McCaffrey take on a Simon Craig led Lavey which looks a fascinating match-up. The final game of the week sees another intriguing match-up involving two former champions Rooskey/Sraigh and Church Street with their perhaps the hardest of the two games to call as both teams are stacked with potential match-winners.
The ingredients are there for some cracking action as the curtain goes up on another Honour of the Village competition which is sure to provide plenty of drama and excitement in the coming days and weeks.
