The East Mayo Athletics Club are not letting the lockdown measures impede their progress and training programmes as they recently took part in the Athletics Ireland Virtual Cross Country Competition.
The under-9 and 10’s ran a very fast 500m and set the bar high for their older counterparts. The under-11’s ran two laps of the course each clocking up 1000m in the process and there were some fantastic times clocked with stamina, tenacity and determination the hallmarks of each and every competitor’s performance.
The under-13’s and 15’s maintained the high standard of competition with brisk 1500m run with all times from each and every grade submitted to AAI. There were some personal and seasonal bests recorded by a number of athletics which was very impressive indeed with the turnout top class as the club continues to broaden its appeal across all ages and genders.
The club thanks Dermot Dillon and Ballaghdereen GAA Club for all their help and support in facilitating the event and hats off to all who took part in what was an enjoyable morning of fun and recreation.
