Culture Night

It Revolves Around You!

culture-nightCulture Night 2016 will take place on Friday, 16th September.

On Culture Night, various artistic and cultural organisations in participating towns and cities throughout the country extend their opening hours to provide the public with increased access to workshops, collections and other events.

Cultural Night is an opportunity for each county to celebrate its unique cultural identity.

Mayo has been involved in the initiative since 2009. Venues throughout the county are participating in the evening which promises to be filled with cultural activities and enjoyment.

Charlestown Arts Centre is providing an evening that will be filled with arts, crafts and a very special film screening.

The evening will start off with a children’s art and craft workshop from 5-6pm. The workshop is suited to children between the ages of 5-13 years. The workshop gives children the opportunity to have some hands on fun with an art and craft session. Parents are welcome to sit and have a cup of tea and find out about up-coming events in the Charlestown Arts Centre. A special screening of ‘Emigrants’ will take place at 7pm. This 1986 RTÈ commissioned film was written and directed by local Councillor Gerry Murray and had a cast of many local Charlestown people.

All are welcome to attend these fun, free events for all the family!
