Charlestown Creative Writing Group meets in the Arts Centre twice a month, and new members are always welcome (NB this is an adult group).
The group includes some complete beginners alongside experienced wordsmiths, which makes for a great mix of people interested in improving their writing skills and offering support to each other in the process. Meetings involve several creative writing exercises, where pen gets put to paper following a prompt or trigger.
Once the creative juices are flowing, members write memoir, poetry, fiction or prose (their personal choice) and they then share with the group for comments and suggestions (or not, again it’s a personal choice).
There is also a chance to hear about publishing opportunities, writing competitions and other news of interest over a cup of tea or coffee. The meetings start at 10.30am every other Monday, and last for two hours.
The sessions are free of charge, with a €1 contribution requested towards refreshments.
The next meeting is on Monday, 12th June 2017. No need to book, just turn up – you’ll be very welcome!
