Charlestown Athletic AGM

The annual general meeting of Charlestown Athletic Soccer Club took place virtually on Saturday evening, April 10, with Zoom being the mode of communication and there was a nice crowd logged in as the club set about electing a new committee for the 2021 season and after much debate and discussion the following officers were elected: chairperson John Honan, treasurer Siobhan McCaffrey, secretary Helena Finn, PRO Padraig Kennedy, committee members Vinnie Hunt and Joe Lowther.

The meeting was constructive with lots of positive ideas put forward as to how to move the club forward. Like all clubs however, Covid-19 and the penal level five restrictions has had an enormous impact on all facets of the organisation with the weekly 50/50 draw on hold since last October which has stripped the club of that vital weekly source of income it so badly needs to fund and equip the many teams with the necessary resources and tools to compete at all levels and grades in both genders.

The committee are hoping to re-launch the draw in the very near future as the restrictions begin to ease and the country opens up albeit gradually and with the utmost of caution. The new committee are wished all the very best as they set about implementing a new vision that will propel the club forward and allow them to compete against the very best teams in the county.
