Well done to Podsie “The Hornblower” Horkan who was the winner of the celebrity darts competition held in Walsh’s Bar, Main Street, Charlestown, on Sunday, February 16, when he blew away the challenge of Gerry “The Magician” McGowan in clinical fashion. This was vintage Podsie as he dismantled the challenge of the Magician with ruthless ease. He was like an assassin in the way he went about his business as he married heavy scoring with rapier-like finishing to leave his opponent gasping for air as he struggled to keep up with high standards set by the number one seed from the off.
The Podster is a terrific front runner and once he had the first two sets in the bag there was no way back for McGowan as try as he might he just couldn’t derail the Podsie train which steamed over the finish line as he wrapped up with the match with a trademark double sixteen finish to bring a good week to an end as he just become the latest member of club forty. Well done big man and keep those arrows sharpened.
