Under-16 International trial

Congratulations and best wishes to Jessica Casey, daughter of Declan and Michelle Casey, Main Street, Charlestown, who received a call-up to attend the Republic of Ireland Women’s U-16 assessment day which was held at the AUL Complex, Cloonshaugh, Dublin, on Wednesday, June 9. This is a very prestigious honour indeed for Jessica and her family and comes on the back of some very impressive performances for the Sligo Rovers U-17 team where she has been lighting it up in the middle of the park.

She’s a very athletic player with an eye for a pass and her energy and skill on the ball have attracted much favourable comment and press among the ranks of the Bit of Red which obviously brought her to the attention of the international selectors who have been monitoring her performances and progress with interest.

Jessica is a talented all round athlete having excelled at Gaelic football too having represented the Sarsfields with distinction at U-14 and U-16 level and also represented Mayo at U-14 level and is currently part of the Mayo U-16 panel which is an indication of the prodigious talent she possesses. She has also represented Connacht Schools at U-15 level which is quite the dossier with her application and attitude first class by all accounts which are two very important attributes a talented athlete needs to have in abundance to forge a career at the elite and cutting edge of top class sport.

Jessica is making big waves at the moment and let’s hope the assessment day went well for her and than an international cap might well be in the pipeline in the next few weeks and months.
