The East Mayo Athletics Club are staging a series of 5km runs, six in total at a number of locations in the locality and surrounding towns and areas. Following on from the very successful opening run in Curry which was well supported and superbly organised the next run on the schedule took in Cloonlyon on Saturday last, June 12, with an equally good turnout evident with plenty of support staff on duty to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Each race must be booked in advance with all races starting at 10 am. Registration forms are available 48 hours in advance of each race by checking out the splendid East Mayo Athletics Facebook page. The entry fee for each race is €5 or six races for the price of five if paid in advance. O-16s only and you can run, walk or jog the 5km depending on your levels of fitness and stamina.
The next run on the list is scheduled for Carracastle on Saturday, June 19, and there has been a great response to the initiative with advance bookings going through the roof at the moment as people get out and get active with exercise and its importance becoming a very important part of their daily/weekly activity.
